This book will capture your attention, and you will find yourself invested in their well-being, very soon after the book begins.
I had tears in my eyes reading Emma and Rodrigo's love story.I am an glad we got read Emma's story about second chances God's love and redemption.Drug addiction prevalent in our society and we as Christians need to recognize the signs,help,and be non judgemental as Jesus would have us do.This book is recommended for those who love Christian romantic suspense with a strong inspirational message.
Keep in mind the following is based on personal feelings and not from knowledge. In spite of the faith-based story line I had a very hard time finishing the book. Alexa Verde has written a good clean romance that tells how a widowed sheriff and recovering heroin addict meet and fall in love. She describes the difficulties they have - the sheriff's grief from losing his wife as well as how Emma's past addiction will impact his job. Emma continues to struggle to avoid drugs while trying to piece her life back together. They both get through their trials as well as developing their relationship through prayer and asking God for understanding and strength. As I said, I had a difficult time reading and finishing this story. While I thought the writing was good it bothered me that even with prayer Emma constantly thought about using drugs especially when things got tough. I will say that I personally haven't used illegal drugs - in this case heroin - so I don't know if Emma's thoughts/desires are typical for a recovering heroin addict, but it seemed like it was her main focus. The good news is that she does avoid going back to using and the story has a HEA ending.BTW, I've read and enjoyed other books by Ms. Verde and will continue to look for and read her books...the subject matter of this one just wasn't for me.
Heart Unbroken by Alex Verde is a story filled with both positive and negative emotions. TheCharacters are so real that I felt these emotions right along with them. There is lots of action in the intriguing story line and on top of all of this is a story of love and forgiveness and redemption. When you put all of these elements together you have this story that is so masterfully written by Alexa Verde. I have never been disappointed in one of her books and this one is certainly no exception. It has been my privilege to receive a copy of this book from the author and to freely offer my opinion. This is definitely a five star book.

What about her future and her ability to move forward, forgive herself and find love?It's a terrific Christian fiction book about Emma Hughes and her daily struggle to live a Christian life and not to take the easy way out by turning to drugs. Will she be able to lead a clean life?
A gut wrenching story between a sheriff and former drug addict, who lost her husband and son but is trying to stay clean and make amends with the help of supportive caring individuals in the small community of Rios Azul. Alexa Verde weaves a page turning story with believable afflicted characters, small town setting, and satisfying resolution. A timely story in this era of opioid addiction.
This was a very interesting story but more than that it brought to light the struggles that are lifetime consequences of drug use as well as the dangers, the pull, and the affects on friends and families of users. But most importantly Ms. Verde made clear how God can heal anyone and work all things together to bring good from even what seem to be unfixable circumstances when people, even addicts, turn to Him.
This book starts off with a beginning that draws you in immediately. The characters are different than you might expect—a Sheriff, and an ex-drug abuser; but they are both Christians, as this story begins. You can expect to be kept guessing, as the story unfolds; and you will likely be surprised at the ending. Intrigued? Grab it, quickly, and read it!
