I really enjoyed this, and was at the same time in awe at the discovery and depth of this great Sufi Sage in the history on my nativity... This is academic, dense, and yet readable, enjoyable, and understandable by common readers... A difficult mix for an author to pull together, and he has done a really good job... Especially very thought-provoking on a very controversial issue... "Satanology".... by one of the greatest Sufi Masters, Ahmad Ghazali, who initiated or rather pulled together -so to speak-, "The School and Metaphysics of Love"... In Islamic Mysticism... An inspiring read... What most DO NOT know and will be happy to find is, in the Persian culture, Ahmad Ghazali is hailed as the greater Saint / Sage, and an inspiration to his better known brother, Abu Hamid Ghazali... This book also briefly addresses that subject, since Abu Hamid Ghazali is much better known in Islamic studies, and one wonders why Ahmad is far less known... Well, it is a tough subject to tackle, but it is here briefly mentioned, and clearly the depth of Ahmad --as usual, when it comes to such subjects-- is ignored, since he gets into far deeper subjects of personal inquiry into the experiential nature of Spirits... A more direct approach, shall we say, to the experiential illuminations of the mystics... Whereas, his brother Abu Hamid delved into these subjects later in his life... So this is a good start into that dimension of discovery as well.
