Have a complete set of these - some of the earlier ones I found at yard sales. I order it every year and go through it slowly to gear up for Christmas - my favorite season. I am going to write the a letter, though. Southern Living is known for its recipes but for the last two years it has been just about all recipes. I want more decorating, gift making and non-food ideas. Also wish it came out in September since I really start getting in the Christmas mood early. I buy with gift points and if you wait till you are ordering stuff worth over $25, shipping is free. What's not to like? This book makes me sad. I have purchased them since 1995 and this one is the worst. Photos are small too many pages for taking notes. Will never buy another one. Thus edition ended my southern living Christmas book tradition. The previous books were wonderful but not this year. Someone at Southern Living was a Scrooge this year.
I have purchased the Southern Living Christmas edition since 1997! It has inspired me each and every year. The book usually has beautiful wrapping ideas, inspiring vintage vignettes; wonderful recipes; ideas for decorating the tree; design ideas and I could go on and on. Except this years book. The pages are on the darker side and not colorful. It has chapters such as "the lake" and "the mountains". I was not inspired one bit; did not care for the recipes or any of the ideas. Very very lackluster book. The first Southern Living Christmas book that I ever returned. I really hope you have better ideas for 2018 with inspiring colorful pages.
Good on recipes, bad on decorations and Christmas ideas. Other versions had a lot more to offer. Just mediocre at best.
Very disappointed. I couldn't even find the recipe for the cake pictured on the front cover. Will be sending back.
Sad to say that this was not Southern Livings best Christmas book. I have collected these for years and this one fell beneath the mark. Will think twice before I get one this year.
Enjoy the publication yearly. Good price from Amazon. As for editors, less impressed each year, unfortunately.
The photography, lay-out and styling are mediocre, as are the recipes themselves. It was no better, and certainly not more inspired than the free magazines that supermarkets publish. At the price, it was a disappointment.
