Poet, radio dramatist, journalist, television scriptwriter, political strategist and speechwriter Richard Durham’s artistic vision was beautifully demonstrated in how he wrote about some of the most disparate yet socially significant figures in black and American history: Marian Anderson, Ralph Bunche, Ida B. This biography unearths not only Durham's career but also many overlooked features of Black journalism, radio and TV drama, trade unionism and political movements

This book is elegant and compelling. It is an extremely significant work that uncovers a previously uninvestigated part of American history. The narrative introduces a quiet media giant whose life story needs to be told. Williams’ research is solid and her years of professional radio experience as a storyteller shine through.
