I just purchased this book. I have spent 4 hours chasing down links that no longer appear in SharePoint, menu structures that no longer appear as described. I regret having purchased the book and wish I could get a refund.Update - I was able to locate the view that the book uses in SharePoint. It is not the default view used by SharePoint when opened for the first time. The view used in the book was not easy to find since I did not know how SharePoint was structured. I guessed and was lucky. I wanted to update my review as soon as possible. I will update again if the book proves useful.
Book is outdated and makes trying to work with while using SharePoint next to impossible. Also the self test files are no good and don't work.
Practical and useful
Nothing in the book even vaguely resembles what I see on the screen when I open SharePoint! The writing is just a bunch of strung together sales pamphlets. I thank my local public library for purchasing this so I could read it and discover what a pile of barn droppings it is, thereby saving me from wasting money by purchasing it. At least I feel my tax dollars are being well spent as consumer protection.
I have been trying to set up chapter 2 environment without success on either the on-premises or online. There is no support to help with that nor any of the authors blogs or email to get answers.
